When confronted we can choose to do something about it, wait and see what happens, or do nothing. I've been told many times through the years that what I was doing was a lost cause... unless there was more support, more funds, more something... I shouldn't waste my time on that person, that problem, that tragedy. I don't believe in waiting until the conditions are perfect or the majority have bought in. There have been many situations that others have walked away from, while I dove right in and began the process of total involvement.
I haven't won every situation. Many are stories in chapters of the books of the lives of others. My involvement was just a page or a chapter to try to help them keep their story going. It's said that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. To my way of thinking someone has to pay attention to that squeak before it's pointless to take action. Thus, there have been some where I did indeed think I lost and was soon shown that there was a greater plan involved than that one situation. Yet who are we to decide when it's won or lost? Some situations involve faith. The Great Spirit can work miracles through the Hummingbird who shows the world that he still keeps trying, despite the losses and despite the odds against him.
Perhaps it is prudent to wait, yet perhaps your inner voice tells you that it is time for you personally to do something to help. Only you can make that determination.
In the end when I have jumped into the fire, I have always left with a great sense of satisfaction knowing that I've done the best that I can do. Whether it was too late to have the impact I had hoped or it was just in the nick of time, I did what I could. It takes a great inner strength to do something that isn't popular when every fiber of your being screams that it is indeed the right thing for you to do!
I find this video so synchronistic with my own viewpoint. I hope you find it inspiring as well!
Remember, if you never try, you're sure to loose. But if you do the best you can, you can look yourself in the mirror the morning after! It surely is better to try than to do nothing.
