It seems that it has gone out of style to truly connect with one another. Some will feel comfortable when communicating via email, the Internet or other electronic methods. Some might pick up the phone and do that old-fashioned thing, make a call and interact with voice! A letter in the mail today is so rare that it deserves to be framed when written, signed and sealed. It's as though we fear the hand-written note might leave an imprint that is irreversible, while we'll trust a public internet with our innermost thoughts, not realizing that they could be accessible to the world! Some will actually hide behind their cell-phones and pretend to be doing something serious or intense when in fact they are dodging the human next to them. It's the newest way of putting up a wall to tell others you are not available to them.
But why could we feel the need to hide, to disconnect from the soul next to us? Perhaps we're tired, overstimulated from the incessant need of others to communicate with us. Perhaps we just need to stop and go within. Not knowing any other method to "get away" from everyone that seems to be hounding us... we shut them out in the most polite way we know in this modern world. We pretend we're communicating with someone else!
We're in a fast-paced world with extremes in every corner aren't we? We might be greeted by a human being as we enter a business and we just blow right past them... we're busy after all! We have the digital commercials on the TV at the check-out stand. We walk down the supermarket aisle or in the big-box stores and have commercials looking at us and talking to us. We can even check out in the self-service line and never have to actually talk with anyone in the store!
But wait, there's more!
- Take the transit system and hide out on your laptop, cell, electronic book.
- Go to the Bank and do everything electronically, or even more-so, never go to the bank... do it all online and only communicate via e-mail, often to an autoresponder!
- Social networking seems one of the few ways we actually find friends today! We're so busy with our schedules and the struggle that we can actually just sit back in whatever our circumstances are, and put ourselves out there and find like-minded people that we find comfort and joy in communicating with.
Music, Periodicals, Communication in general has surely changed... but have human beings?
We elect our governing bodies without taking the time to truly understand what they believe in, what they stand for and what, beneath the speeches so eloquently written for them, they might actually do on our behalf if elected.
We spend so little time with our family that we've become a world of individuals who happen to be related. The holidays we used to share in generations past are now a work-day for many. We cannot find the means to share a few days here and there "in person" with them throughout the year. The days of Sunday afternoon dinners around the table and a good intense conversation covering whatever a loved one needed help with seem to be all too distant in my memory at times. Good heavens if someone knocks at our door... we're probably not home because we're too busy trying to get by in the jungle... or... we're hiding behind the door because we're just too overwhelmed to feel as though we can interact with anyone today.
It isn't that we don't want to. In fact... I believe...
- That you want, need and yearn for someone who honestly and lovingly cares for you to listen to your current stories and help you find your way through them by sharing.
- That I need to see your face, touch your shoulder and lend an ear to feel as though I'm needed by someone for real, for more than the $ per hour I'm paid from 9-5 Monday through Friday.
- That you deeply feel as though you are a loving soul with so much to offer the world.
- That I deeply feel your kindness, your consideration and your joy when I'm with you.
- That you really would rather be spending that special day off with a loved one, whether friend, family or kindred soul, than spending it catching up on everything you haven't had time to do during the week.
- That I miss you and know that you love me, and want to share some precious moments with you in this physical reality that we've come together in this time and space to experience.
- That we.... are together even when absent from each-other physically. That we.... are truly one connected by the magic of the Universal energy that flows through our atoms, our energy bodies and beyond.
- That we all desperately feel the lack of compassion at times in our world. We are stumbling into one another, over each-other and don't understand how it came to this. Our society has required this of us to survive, as though the hunting never ends... and the rest never comes.
We are tired. Our bodies are even extreme today, we're sick-worn-out, and out of shape or... we're thin-lean-machines and our thoughts reflect this because every spare minute we have is spent on just that... our machines. We kid ourselves by telling ourselves that we're balanced... but are we?
Body.... Mind.... Spirit...
Love... Joy.. Compassion...
As above... So Below...
As about us... So Within us.
Balance.
I believe in the Miracle of that from which we come.. and that to which we will return.
I believe in your ability to look at the stupidity of the lifestyle that has been super-imposed upon you and say STOP!
I believe that when enough awaken to the reality that life is a temporary lay-over in the field of eternity... we'll be okay.
There are no guarantees that if you eat your sprouts, watch your weight, never smoke, drink, etc. that you'll be here at 101 years old.
There is, however a guarantee from me to you... that if you take time from your busy life with loved one(s) repeatedly... eventually they will probably believe that you really care. You truly want nothing more than to share space, time and experience with them.
You see... it's not about you. It's not about me. And yet... your life is totally about you. My life is totally about me. We're here to learn life-lessons, to experience, share, connect, overcome, overwhelm and delight in the total bliss that brought us to this playful playground!
We need one another. It's that simple. When we get that... we're sure to experience the depth of each-others souls and the height of bliss when we share our joys!
Until we see this and practice it repeatedly... we may not believe it is possible.
But I believe in Miracles... and I believe in You!
